Chef Michael Smith is clearly mad about mussels. The Food Network host said the popular shelled seafood is not only highly versatile, but it's also among the tastiest seafood options available.
However, at first glance, Smith said they're one of those ingredients that seem a bit unapproachable - perhaps even complicated.
The Prince Edward Island resident said nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, once individuals get to know mussels, they'll actually find they're the simplest fish to cook.

The mussel industry in Atlantic Canada has joined forces to develop a regional marketing plan.Federal ACOA Minister Keith Ashfield was in Charlottetown recently to announce the $800,000 contribution to the program. Industry groups in the four provinces have formed a Mussel Industry Council to oversee the effort.

The Canadian mussel industry will benefit from a new marketing program announced in Charlttetown today to further promote mussels from Eastern Canada throughout North America.
A combined federal and provincial investment totaling over $900,000 was announced today by Keith Ashfield, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency), and the Neil LeClair, Prince Edward Island Minister of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development.
