Ingredients
- 2 tbsp celery, diced
- 2 tbsp onion, diced
- 6 lemon wedges
- 1 lb fresh cultured blue mussels
- 1⁄2 cup water, dry white wine, or beer (optional)
- 1 pinch cracked black pepper, to taste
- 1⁄4 margarine or butter, melted
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Rinse the fresh blue mussels in tap water.
- Place water, wine or beer, celery, onion and mussels in a 5 qt (4 ¾ L) pan.
- Cover and steam over high heat until mussels open (5-8 minutes).
- Squeeze lemon juice over mussels, sprinkle with pepper and serve with melted butter or margarine for dipping.
