Description
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh cultured blue mussel meats, cooked and shucked
- 1 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 cup vegetable oil
Instructions
- Rinse fresh blue mussels in tap water.
- Place in large pot and steam until the shells open (5-7 minutes).
- Take the mussel meat out of the shells (discard shells)
- Roll the mussels in bread crumbs.
- Beat egg and combine with water.
- Dip breaded mussels in egg mixture then roll in crumbs again.
- Drop into the vegetable oil heated to 375 degrees F (190 C) for 2-3 minutes.
- Drain well. Serve as is or try dipping in your favourite Aioli, mayo or sauce.
